Every year, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency makes 21 million decisions that affect people's lives and society as a whole. We disburse approximately 260 billion kronor each year. These are the taxpayers' money that we manage. It is a significant responsibility. Therefore, we think innovatively and use the latest technology to simplify and improve, develop and deliver IT services for the Swedish social insurance system. Welcome to one of Sweden's largest IT departments.

The operational area ITI is primarily responsible for a coordinated, quality-assured, and efficient management of information, data, and AI within the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, but also for actively contributing in these areas to the entire public sector.

We are now looking for a unit manager for Applied AI – a central role in our continued investment to develop, scale up, and manage sustainable and ethical AI services that create real benefits for the organization and society.

Close leadership, applied AI, and change management

As a unit manager, you are the leader who is closest to the employees and the operations. You are responsible for leading and driving the daily work based on the department's mission and goals, where the public value base permeates your work. Through your leadership, you convey clear expectations, follow up on goals, and provide your employees with the right conditions to take their responsibility. You have personnel responsibility as well as result and follow-up responsibility for the teams in your unit. You also represent the Swedish Social Insurance Agency in external collaborations.

The Applied AI area is currently in an expansive phase and is now being organized into more units to scale up deliveries and working methods. As a unit manager, you lead one of these units, responsible for a group of employees with expertise in development, data science, AI, and business development. The employees are primarily located in Luleå and Gothenburg but are also present in other locations across the country.

The unit's mission is to develop, implement, and operationalize AI solutions that create concrete business benefits. The work encompasses the entire chain, from idea and prototype to scaled and managed AI services, as well as building and maintaining common AI capabilities that can be reused in multiple applications.

The Swedish Social Insurance Agency is today one of the more established AI organizations within the public sector. We are now entering the next phase, with an increased focus on scaling, stable operations, and long-term management of AI services. As a unit manager, you play a key role in this development.

You contribute with your expertise, your commitment, and your ability to translate strategic goals into concrete business development. Through close and trust-based leadership, you create predictability, security, and development power in an environment characterized by change.

You create understanding of the context, direction, and the goal images the department has set and develop the plans your operations need. As a unit manager, you are a support for the area manager, and you are part of the management group for the AI area, contributing to the development, implementation, and scaling of sustainable and ethical AI services that enhance the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's ability to use data and AI for increased efficiency, quality, and better service. You adapt and exercise your leadership in a way that creates conditions for employees to use their judgment and competence.

The position involves handling confidential information, which places high demands on proper management. Therefore, it is important that you, who will work with us, have a high security awareness.

Two positions, permanent, full-time, with start date by agreement. A probationary period may be relevant. In accordance with the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's security guidelines, background checks will be conducted in this recruitment. For this position, Swedish citizenship is required. Possibility for remote work exists if the work allows. Travel is included in the position. In this recruitment, psychological tests may be used as part of the selection process. Placement location: Luleå or Gothenburg.
